The New Forest Travel Information

Getting to conference venues in the New Forest is easy. There are good road, rail and air links into the area.

Road

By road, the New Forest is less than 90 minutes from the centre of London. There are major motorway links connecting with other parts of the country. The main entry point to the New Forest is via Juntion 1 M27.

By Rail

Train connections are excellent with a regular high-speed rail service from London Waterloo stopping at Southampton and Brockenhurst.

Designed by Samuel Wyatt in the mid-1700s, the house became the property of the Normanton family in 1825 and has remained in the same family throughout the years. Housing a magnificent art and porcelain collection, the house itself, albeit impressively splendid, still retains the warmth and character of a family home.

The Burley Manor Hotel is the jewel in the crown of the New Forest and throughout its long history, Burley Manor has enjoyed many regal connections. Parts of the estate were probably laid out in Saxon times and must have existed before the Domesday Book was compiled in 1086. Later, for nearly 200 years, Burley was a Royal Manor. The current building was erected in 1852, but it was a further 80 years before the house became a hotel, when a restaurant and bedroom wing were added. During World War Two, the hotel was requisitioned and used as a military headquarters by Lord Montgomery and his chiefs of staff.

Following the sale of Hotel du Vin, Gerard and Nina purchased their new hotel in early 2007 and have spent months carefully renovating and adding a contemporary twist using the style and imagination of local craftspeople. Tasty food, an ?open? kitchen and an excellent wine cellar also form an essential part of an all-round experience that combines relaxed yet professional service with attention to detail. Gerard and Nina are endeavouring to make the hotel as ?environmentally friendly? as possible and they are members of the Green Leaf Tourism scheme, run by the New Forest National Park. The hotel uses local, organically-grown lavender for the hand-made toiletries as well as eco-friendly housekeeping products, while in the kitchens, organically-grown free-range local produce is always the preferred choice.
